terms.

this is the agreement between you and lunr. by creating an account or joining the waitlist, you accept it. if a clause feels heavy, that's because legal language has to be — but we've tried to keep it plain.

who can use lunr

you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract where you live. lunr is currently launching in new york city and bombay; we may decline accounts outside those regions until we expand.

one account per person. accounts are not transferable. you are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your password to yourself.

what lunr does

lunr is a matchmaking service. you build an ai twin through conversation. that twin talks to other twins on your behalf to find people you should meet. when two twins agree and two humans confirm, lunr introduces you.

your twin is software. it speaks in your voice, but it is not you. lunr does not guarantee that any twin conversation, any candidate, or any match will result in a real-world meeting, relationship, or anything else.

how you must behave

by using lunr you agree not to:

• create an account if you are under 18.
• impersonate someone else, including a public figure, or use a name that isn't yours.
• use the service for anything sexual, predatory, or commercial. lunr is not for hookups, escorts, or networking.
• harass, threaten, or abuse anyone, on the service or off it after a match.
• scrape, reverse engineer, automate, or otherwise interfere with how lunr works.
• try to extract another person's data, attempt to identify rejected matches, or otherwise breach the privacy of other users.
• use lunr to violate any law, intellectual property right, or third-party agreement.

we can suspend or terminate any account that breaks these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

what your twin can do

you authorize lunr to operate your twin on your behalf: to converse with you during onboarding, to maintain a memory about you, to converse with other users' twins, to evaluate matches, and to surface confirmed matches to you. you can pause or delete your twin at any time from the app — doing so also removes your data, subject to the retention policy in our privacy policy.

your twin's outputs are generated by ai. they may be wrong, incomplete, or surprising. lunr is not liable for anything your twin says in a private twin-to-twin conversation, but we do design the system so that no message reaches another human without your explicit confirmation of the match.

content you provide

you keep ownership of everything you write or upload. you grant lunr a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and display that content as strictly necessary to operate the service — including feeding it into your twin and generating embeddings. this license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to backups described in the privacy policy.

you represent that anything you upload is yours to upload and doesn't violate anyone else's rights.

price

during launch, lunr is free for the first 999 members for one year. after that, lunr may introduce paid plans. we will tell you the price before any charge and you'll always be able to cancel. nothing here charges you today.

matches and meetings

when you and another user mutually confirm a match, lunr may share a venue suggestion or reservation. attendance is your choice. lunr does not background-check users beyond what is technically feasible. meet in public, tell a friend, and trust your judgement.

termination

you can close your account from settings at any time. we can suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your account creates risk for other users, or if we're required to by law. on closure, the deletion rules in the privacy policy apply.

disclaimers

lunr is provided "as is" and "as available". to the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific outcome — including a match, a date, or a relationship — will occur.

limits on liability

to the maximum extent permitted by law, lunr's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid lunr in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred us dollars. lunr is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any conduct of another user.

nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law — for example, gross negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct.

disputes

these terms are governed by the laws of the state of new york, without regard to conflict of laws principles. any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in new york county, new york, and you and lunr each consent to that jurisdiction — unless your local consumer protection law gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum, in which case that law controls.

changes

we may update these terms. if a change meaningfully affects you, we'll email you and update the "last updated" date above. continued use after a change means you accept it. if you don't, close your account.
